VISIT AT THREADS OF LIVE - IKAT

The following display on Ikat at Threads of Life, Ubud, is very informative since it explains this very complex form of dyeing and weaving rather well and concisely, so I thought I should share it with you.

See previous post for details on Natural dyes used in this process. Many colours such as white, light blue, dark blue, red, purple are achieved using only blue from Indigo and red from Morinda root bark, and by combining over-dyeing or regulating the immersion time, and of course tying and exposing of the threads.
