Artisanal textiles and dye workshops
WORKSHOPS
Dyehaus is the studio of textile designer Bettina Ludowici.
It is located in Mt Irvine in the Upper Blue Mountains, 2.5 hours scenic drive from Sydney. No one has found the drive a hindrance and rather enjoyed and looked forward to it. It gives a wonderful sense of getting away.
The property is nestled in the rainforest and the studio located in an orchard with chook house. It is a relaxing and inspiring environment from where participants come re-charged and brimming with new ideas and projects.
Courses take place inside as well as outside, which makes for a fun experience.
The studio is well equipped with plenty of space and great wet facilities outside.
The mission statement of DyeHaus workshops is to provide a stimulating, supportive and relaxing atmosphere.

There is no preparation required from the participants, no lengthy list of supplies to gather or purchase since all materials and equipment are supplied. Suitable fabric is selected according to different projects. Of course you can bring your own. Even light meals and refreshments are provided since there is no possibility of buying food within an hours drive.
Classes are carefully planned and executed and extensive handouts provided.
Theory and technical details are given in sufficient detail to allow students a thorough understanding of the dyeing process. Even if covering the same dyeing method, every class is different and new elements and aspects of a process are incorporated.
A maximum of 6 students assures individual attention.
I do experiment widely and combine techniques and always discover new effects and encourage everybody to do the same, if appropriate. I would like to impart the knowledge so participants can create their own unique and special work.
Of course you can simply have a fun day dyeing and enjoying yourself in the company of lovely, interested and interesting people.
See photo albums on Facebook and Flipagrams to view the wonderful output of previous classes.
There is very reasonable accommodation in nearby Mt Wilson. Why not gather a group of friends and turn a creative day into a relaxing weekend? Private class bookings can be made for a minimum of 3 people. Please enquire for further details.
